Plight of the refugees

Many of us may not fully grasp the reality faced by the refugees living in Malaysia. Here is a list of just a few things why they have a difficult existence here, and why we all need to help.

According to the latest count by UNHCR, there are approximately 150,000 people of concern (refugee etc). 25,500 of them are under the age of 18, with 23, 823 of school-going ages. Of which only 29% are enrolled in schools or community learning centres.

It is reported there are many more refugees that are not yet registered with UNHCR.

The fundraising begins on the 1st March 2022.

It ends on the 1st April 2022. Distribution begins on the 2nd April 2022.

100% of the funds raised will be used to purchase food items directly from the grocery stores.

Due to the pandemic SOP, we have arranged with the grocery stores to send food items directly to the refugee communities. Carefugees will be coordinating the logistics on the distribution day.

If the funds raised go beyond our target, we will source for additional food support and distribute to other refugee communities in the city.
